Golfing with Syd
We've been going golfing quite a lot this fall. Syd is getting pretty good. She got a new set of clubs for her birthday and she's been giving them quite a work out. She's getting better every time we go. We're hoping to get a few more times in before it gets too cold and snowy.
We have some great video of Syd hitting the ball. Unfortunately, the video component on the blog doesn't seem to be working today. It won't accept any of the videos. So, if you want to see Syd golfing let us know and we'll email them to you.

Syd's First Day of School
Syd started kindergarten this year. Her first day was September 2nd and so far she is loving it. She has made friends already and everyday she gets off the bus she says she loves school. She seems to be doing really well too. She brings home lots of smiley faces and stars on her worksheets. And she really likes buying lunch. Here are some pictures from her first day of school eating and then getting on the bus. It's funny, I was so worried about her not getting on the bus that morning and as it turns out, she was so excited she barely said good-bye to me before jumping on.

Zoo Trip
Dad had a nerd conference down in Columbus Saturday, so Syd and Mom made a trip to the zoo. We got to see the polar bear cub and many other wonderful animals. Syd's favorite parts were seeing the penguins and riding both merry-go-rounds, the indoor and outdoor ones. She also really enjoyed the train ride through Africa. We also got to see a couple of the wolves up close for the first time. They are usually hiding in the back, but they came out this time, maybe because a person was walking by with an assistance dog and the wolves seemed very interested in him.

Syd Started Karate
Syd has been wanting to take karate for some time now. The YMCA offers it for 5 years old and up, so she's finally able to take it. The pictures below are from her first class, so she's not wearing her Gi (uniform). They received the Gi and White Belt at the end of the first session. She seems to really like it and her Sensei seems very nice and very capable. I can't imagine being in charge of a room full of 5 year olds learning Karate.
