Syd's Class Picture Fall 2008

Here is Syd's class picture from this year. These are her classmates with her two teachers, Amy and Amber. It's a pretty good picture so I thought I'd share it.

It's funny because the last three years she has refused to sit for the individual picture (that whole shyness thing), so I let her pick out her own clothes this year figuring it wouldn't matter. Of course, the one time I didn't make her dress up, she does sit for the individual picture. Here's that one.

Easter Dinner w/ G & G Capwell

We had Easter dinner with Grandma & Grandpa Capwell yesterday. None of us felt like cooking this year so we went to the French Quarter here in Perrysburg for the Easter Buffet. It was fantastic. They had beef, turkey, ham, chicken, and salmon with many sides, salad stuff, and scrumptious deserts. They also had a breakfast section with eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. Syd ate an enormous amount of food. She was actually buffet worthy (a term our friend Jason came up with for people who actually get more than their money's worth at buffets). The Easter bunny was there as well so Syd hammed it up with him. She actually delivered him a plate of carrots (her idea) so he could have a snack while sitting for pictures with the kids. It was very cute and the bunny signed "Thank you" to her. Syd was most impressed with an ice sculpture of a bunny and wheelbarrow. She kept staring at it and touching it. It was a nice buffet. We'll definitely keep it in mind for next year.

Easter Morning finding eggs and her basket

Syd had fun yesterday morning finding eggs and discovering the cool stuff she got in her Easter basket. Though Mom hard boiled 2 dozen eggs Thursday night, the Easter bunny only had 15 to hide for Easter morning. Syd is a huge hard boiled egg fan and since she doesn't eat the yellow part they're an incredibly healthy snack (no fat or cholesterol and tons of protein) so we let her go to town. She loved her SpongeBob Easter basket and the books and toys inside. Her favorites: a Dora book about coloring Easter eggs and a bunny on a skateboard.

Coloring Easter Eggs

We colored Easter Eggs last night. There was a blizzard happening outside, but we tried to imagine Spring inside. Easter is so early this year, it's weird.

Easter Brunch w/ the Burns Family

Saturday we went to Cleveland to attend a really nice Easter Brunch at the Rustic Hills Country Club with Grandma & Grandpa Burns and Uncle Derek, Aunt Shana, and Zane and Scarlett. The brunch was great, but even better, the Easter Bunny was there taking pictures with the kids. It ended with an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids.

Syd had a great time playing with her cousins, especially Zane (Scarlett's too little to play, but she's really cute and Syd made her smile a number of times). Zane and Syd went up to the bunny a bunch of times, just the two of them, with no prodding at all from us. It was very cute. They also made crafts, got their faces painted, and danced.

These were taken by Syd.

We also had birthday cake, since it was Zack's birthday as well. Later we went back to Grandma and Grandpa's house and the kids had some more fun playing.

Zach J's B-Day Party

Syd had a ball at Monkey Jump http://www.monkey-jump.com/ on Sunday when she went to her friend's birthday party. Zach, her friend from school, had his 5th birthday party at this very cool place where kids can run and jump and slide to their heart's content. They had a ball.

BGSU Alumni Event

Saturday night we all went to a BGSU alumni event, which included a subs and wings dinner and a hockey game after. It was a good time for all.

Mom's Broken

Mom broke her collar bone skiing on Friday, February 29th (leap day of all days). We were skiing at Alpine Valley north of Detroit and Mom caught an edge and went down. We went to the emergency room and found out that she had broken her collar bone in three places. She saw an orthopedic surgeon on Monday and had surgery on Tuesday. Everything went well and she should be good to go in about 6 - 8 weeks. She will have fun at airports for the rest of her life, as she now sports two plates and 15 screws in her left shoulder. Yeehaw.
